April 12, 1947
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, Boston, April 12, 1947
* MLB baseball color barrier broken
This 14 page newspaper has a historic one column headline on page 4: "Robinson O.K. At First Base In Exhibition" (see images).
Note: This was the first time an African-American appeared in an official major league baseball game. America's favorite pastime would never be the same. While taken for granted in the 21st century, such events were major milestones in the slow progression of the U.S. Declaration of Independence's claim that "all men are created equal".
Other news of the day throughout. Minor spine wear, otherwise in nice condition.
