Printed in the dateline is: "Confederate States Of America" which is rarely found on Southern newspapers. Notable content in this issue includes, on the front page under "A Proclamation Of President Davis", a "Proclamation By The President To The People Of The Confederate States", designating "...a Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer...", to mark the end of the "Provisional Government", signed in type: Jefferson Davis.

"From Norfolk" is a report: "The Battle Of Fort Donelson--Northern Accounts--Great Rapture In Lincolndom--The Herald's Account Of The Capture Of Savannah."

On page 2 under "War Department" is: "An Act Providing For The Granting Of Bounty & Furloughs To Privates And Non-Commissioned Officers In The Provisional Army...", signed in type: S. Cooper, the Adjutant & Inspector General.

First leaf has a small hole at the fold juncture, lite stain in the upper and lower left corners, some lite foxing.
