A page 3 item under "Jefferson's Tour" mocks the former President: "It is said that the ex-President Jefferson is making arrangements for a journey to the eastward....'What is his object.?' We are told that he has been nominated by Red Breeches, Chief of the Penobscot tribe of Indians, as his successor, and that he is about making his appearance in that quarter in quality of crown prince."
