THE CONNECTICUT JOURNAL, New Haven, March 10, 1779

* Rare Revolutionary War title from America
* Benedict Arnold
* General George Washington

Page 2 has some Revolutionary War items including a report from New York which notes: "...an expedition consisting of 4000 men was sailed under convoy of several men of war of the line to Carolina; the land forces were commanded by Col. Campbell who had been a prisoner at Boston near two years...General Clinton was preparing for another expedition..." plus other items.

One report notes: "...many reasons for pursuing the American war. It was true...that two-thirds of the people were inclined to return to the allegiance of Great Britain...General Washington had not 6000 men in his army at the conclusion of the last campaign...it was certain that the Congress had actually mortgaged the country to France for the payment...".

There is also an interesting ad on pg. 2 of a house "For Sale" in New Haven which was: "...lately occupied by General Arnold..." with details (see).

Page 3 also has some items on the Revolutionary War (see photos) including a report from New Jersey that "...a party of the enemy of near 1000 landed there from Staten Island...and burned the barracks...being hardly pressed by a small body of continental troops & militia, commanded by Gen. Maxwell, they left most of the cattle behind...".

The back page is entirely taken up with ads. Complete in 4 pages, never bound nor trimmed, minor browning at the front page folds & a very tiny hole at the fold juncture at the center. Generally in very nice condition measuring 8 1/4 by 14 inches.
