THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, September 8, 1759
* Crown Point & Niagara
* French and Indian War
An inside page has some reports under the heading: "America" with news from New York, Ticonderoga, and Albany, portions including: "Yesterday the enemy...embarked in the night, set fire to the fort & blew up the magazine which destroyed half the fort..." and further on are news bits from Niagara (see).
Another report has news from New York which includes: "...account...from General Wolfe that he had got safe up the River St. Laurence & landed his men on the Isle of Orleans..." and further on is news from Niagara, and "...confirms the account that the French had fled from Crown Point & adds that Gen. Amherst was preparing to embark on Lake Champlain to go to Montreal & Quebeck..."
An entire page plus most of the back page are taken up with: "A Just Estimate of the Importance of Having reduced Crown Point and Niagara" which has tremendous detail (photos show only portions).
An uncommonly fine issue on the French & Indian War, containing much more war-related content than is typically found in a single newspaper.
Complete in 8 pgs., measures 8 by 11 in., discreet archival mend to an upper corner on each leaf, and an inked arrow just above the heading of the last mentioned article not affecting any text (see). Otherwise nice.
