Birth of the Mason/Dixon Line: rare mention of the Mason & Dixon survey in a London newspaper.

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Aug. 4, 1763  An inside page has a report which signals the beginning of settling a boundary dispute which would become quite famous, and lives to this day by the names of the two gentlemen mentioned here: "Lord Baltimore, Proprietary of Maryland, and Messrs. Penn, Proprietaries of Pennsylvania, have appointed Mr. Mason and Mr. Dickson, two eminent mathematicians, to settle the bounds of their respective settlements in those colonies, and put a final issue to a dispute which has subsisted on that head ever since 1693." (see photos).
Great to have a period report on the hiring of the two men who would create the "Mason Dixon Line" between Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Also, the ftpg. has reports from "America" which include items on William Franklin, governor of New Jersey, with the report taking most of the page (see photos).
Complete in 8 pgs., measures about 8 1/2 by 11 inches, very nice, clean condition.
