HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, September 24, 1881
* Very early tennis play
* President James Garfield near death
* Prints
The front page is taken up with a print captioned:
* At The Window--A Brief Respite in a Weary Struggle
showing President James Garfield recovering from being shot (he would die very soon)
The prime content in this issue may well be the full page print captioned: " A Game Of Lawn Tennis, Staten Island Club Grounds" which shows two men playing tennis.
A very nice & early tennis print with a related article on another page headed: "Lawn Tennis".
There are other nice prints in this issue as well, including "The New Harvard Gymnasium" "In the Hop Fields of Central New York" and a full page print: "Opium Smoking in New York" among others. The Supplement is included as well but it has some damage at the central fold.
Complete in 16 pages, the tennis print has an archival mend on its reverse but the repair is virtually unnoticeable.
