FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, New York, April 22, 1882
* Great Jesse James gang item
This famous title produced many issues with some very desirable illustrations, but this issue, with the front page portrait of noted outlaw Jesse James, is arguably the most coveted.
The caption beneath the full front page illustration reads: "Missouri--Jesse James, the Notorious Desperado, Killed at St. Joseph, April 3d." This is perhaps the most displayable newspaper to be found reporting on the Western outlaws.
This issue is missing half of the original inside pages, being the 8 central pages, however these are present in full-size photocopy so all text & prints are present. This includes the article on Jesse James referenced in the front page caption.
This issue measures 11 3/4 by 16 1/2 inches, was never bound nor trimmed, has some browning at the edges of the margins (see photos) and some light soiling, but is generally in nice condition.
