The book "Famous First Facts" notes that Thomas Edison received a patent, number 223,898, for the electric light on January 27, 1880, marking one of the most significant inventions of the 19th century.

In this issue among the "Index of Inventions" is a simple and certainly inconspicuous entry for this important invention, the listing reading (shown in the photo): "Lamp, electric, T. A. Edison..........223,898" .

Nice to have a printing of the patent of an invention which changed the life of mankind. The full ftpg. is a print of: "The Manufacture of Rotary Pressure Blowers, Works of P. H. & F. M. Roots, Connersville, Indiana".
