* Chief Sitting Bull
The top of the first column on the ftpg. has an albeit short report headed: "Gen. Custer's Terrible Defeat" which begins: "The defeat and massacre of Gen. Custer & the five companies of cavalry with which he charged the camp of Sitting Bull in the Indian country are confirmed...An official report has been sent on by mail..." and ending with: "...Sitting Bull, by whom Gen. Custer's command was defeated, has been on the warpath for years & has never assented to a treaty."
