THE NEW-YORK TIMES, October 31, 1886 On this front page of this issue, in the right margin in red ink is a message supporting Theodore Roosevelt. The message (see photos) is 17 3/4 inches in length and reads: "VOTE FOR ROOSEVELT AND SAVE THE CITY FROM THE ROBBERS" This message in lightly inked especially along the bottom of the letters. There is another enthusiastic ftpg. report about Roosevelt headed: "Flocking To Roosevelt" "His Success Discouraging The Democrats" (see). At the time, Roosevelt was a candidate for mayor of New York City but despite the support of the N.Y. Times he was defeated by Abram S. Hewitt. A unique item relating to the early political career of Theodore Roosevelt & an uncommon presentation in the Times. Complete in 16 pgs., light, even browning, slightly irregular at the spine, mostly nice.
