October 29, 1851
THE DAILY CRESCENT, New Orleans, Louisiana, October 29, 1851.

* Rare from the pre civil war deep South
* 7 illustrated slave ads

Rarely do we have the opportunity to offer newspapers from New Orleans from before the 1880's. Here is a nice pre-Civil War issue, complete in 4 pages with a nice engraving in the masthead of a scene along the Mississippi River.

In additional to various news reports on the front page there is also a wealth of ads, some of which are illustrated. There are 7 illustrated slave ads.

About half of page 2 is taken up with news & half with ads, and pg. 3 is the same. Not surprisingly many of the illustrated ads on pg. 3 are for steamboats (see).
The back page is entirely taken up with ads, many of which are illustrated.

Complete in four pages, somewhat irregular and partially loose at the spine, some scattered foxing, and slight left margin loss due to at one time being bound (see images).
