THE MASSACHUSETTS MAGAZINE OR MONTHLY MUSEUM, Boston, April, 1789 This is the 4th issue of this uncommon magazine by famed publisher Isaiah Thomas. There is a full title/index page which lists the various articles within, some including: "American Natural History, Continued" "Thoughts on Happiness" "Advice to the Ladies in Obtaining Husbands" "Anecdotes of the Life of Theodore, King of Corsica" among others. One of the more rare item in this issue is the plate, titled "Humanity: Or the Death of the Prince of Brunswick" (see). Almost always plates from 18th century American magazines are missing, but this one is present. Note it is close-trimmed at the top, has 2 archival mends to the reverse, and appears to have a few portions hand-colored. Near the back under "American News..." is a listing of the U.S. Senators and Representatives, and noting George Washington & John Adams as President & Vice President (see). Another pg. has the: "...account of the arrival of his Excellency the President of the United States at the seat of Federal Government..." with the details (see photos). This same pg. has the inaugural address of Vice President John Adams (see) & signed by him: John Adams.  Complete in 64 pgs., full title/index page has foxing and off-setting (see), with some margin tears, while the interior pgs. are generally quite nice.
