* Extremely early article on the Mormons
Rare is it to find newspaper accounts of the Mormons in newspapers before 1835. And this issue is 3 years earlier than that, with a page 2 item headed: "Mormonism" and with the complete text shown in the photos below. The strong anti-Mormon sentiment which was growing at that time is quite evident, as the closing sentence reads: "Thus are people swindled of their property and drawn from their comfortable homes by ignorant fanatics."
