* Lack of churches...

Front page has: "OUR CALIFORNIA LETTERS", taking nearly 10 linear inches, which includes many details concerning their voyage and experiece in and around San Francisco.  Much discusion concerning the lack of churches, the voyage, the housing costs due to the "rush", etc.  Text includes:  "there are few who are worthy of the name Christian..."  "the demon Rum has claimed its victim"  "there are ministers of the gospel... but the hearers are few".  Many additional details of the behavior of those who have come for the gold.  8 pages in good condition (see images).
