NATIONAL ADVOCATE, N.Y., Dec. 11, 1820 A pg. 2 item says that electors of Connecticut chose James Monroe and Daniel Tompkins, and that it was "...the first time the electoral votes of this state...were ever given for the republican candidates...". Stray writing in the masthead, trimmed close at the bottom causing minor unrelated loss.
