THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, April, 1756  Among the articles in this issue are: "Interesting Observations on Raising Raw Silk" which has much focus on the silk in dustry in America (see); 'Translation of a Remarkable  Speech made by Paoli...at a late Meeting of the States of the Island of Corsica" 'Who Shall be Licensed to Kill Game" "Short View of the Contests Concerning America" which takes over 2 pages and relates to the French & Indian War.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" which has the latest news reports of the day and which includes a: "...Letter from General Shirley to a Gentleman in Pennsylvania..." datelined at Boston. It includes in part: "...at this critical conjuncture for putting a stop to the invasions & devastations of the French & their Indians within our borders, & placing the British  northern colonies in a state of security..." with more (see).
There are no plates or maps called for in this issue.
Complete in 56 pages, 5 by 8 inches, full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate.

A very nice magazine from the French & Indian War with a wide range of varied content including news of the day, political reports, literary items, and other unusual tidbits. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
