Also, a 1/2 page illustration of "Blocking Up the Channel of the Weser by the Germans." Inside is a full page illustration of the "Effect of the Mitrailleuse in the Battle of Gravelotte." Full page Thomas Nast illustration of "Europe and America Overlooking the Valley of Death-We Shrink from Contemplation our Losses." Horizontal Full page illustration of "Bringing up the Guns." 1/2 page illustration of "View of Strasbourg." Two 1/4 page portraits of "General Uhrich, Commanding at Strasbourg" and "General Trochu, Governor of Paris." 1/3 page map of "Plan of the City of Rome." A full page illustrations of "Gambetta Proclaiming the Republic, Sunday, September 4, 1870, in front of the Palace of the Corps Legislatie." Seven portraits of "The Judges of the New Court of Appeals" including: "William F. Allen, Rufus W. Peckham, Martin Grover, Sanford E. Church, Charles A. Rapallo, Charles J. Folger, and Charles Andrews."
