Home for the Holidays... Nast's 'Excommunication of Modern Civilization'...

HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, December 25, 1869 The front page of the issue contains a fullpage illustration entitled "Home for the Holidays" (Christmas). Inside are five illustrations pertaining to "The War in Cuba." (Trinidad Mountains, General Adolph Cavada, Military District of Cienfuegos).  Two full page Thomas Nast illustrations are of "Excommunication of Modern Civilization: Galileo of the 19th Century: But Never the Less it Does Move" and "The Economical Council, Albany, New York." Another full page illustration consist of twelve smaller illustrations pertaining to "The New York State Inebriate Asylum, at Binghamton." Three small illustrations of "Dogs." There are two quarter-page illustration of "Covered by the Flag" and "Burning of the Philadelphia Commercial Exchange."
Complete in 16 pages and contains additional prints and related text.
