Washington Irving tribute... The Geat Eastern...

HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, Aug. 11, 1866  Perhaps the most noteworthy prints are in recognition of Washington Irving, which includes details about his life. Among the related prints are "The Old Dutch Church," of North Tarrytown (current day Sleepy Hollow), which featured prominently in "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."
Other prints include: the front page: 'Review of the N.J. State Militia at Long Branch', and the inside prints: one-third pg: 'The Atlantic Cable--View of Heart's Content, Newfoundland', the nice doublepage centerfold: 'the Girdler's of the Earth: The Atlantic Cable Laid' showing vignettes on the Atlantic cable, including a print of Ben Franklin & Prof. Morse, and a feature illus. of the ship the Great Eastern, nearly halfpg: 'New Iberia, Louisiana' and 'Alabamians Receiving Rations', a full page containing three of Henry Ward Beecher's churches, and more.
