THE OPELOUSAS COURIER, Louisiana., Apr. 4, 1863 With newsprint scarce, (most of the paper used was manufactured in the North) a few publishers in the South resorted to using wallpaper to print their newspapers. Here is such an issue Text is on the front page, and the wallpaper design is on the back (some of the design "bleeds" thru to the front, but causing no loss of readability. This issue has two columns containing news and commentary, while the remaining three columns have ads and notices. One of the notices headed "Ranaway" offers a reward for a runaway "negro woman of a grif color" and it includes a small woodcut of a "runaway". This is a singlesheet issue, with just a bit of wear at the bottom, otherwise is in good condition. A nice opportunity for a very rare and desirable issue, & an interesting curiosity.
