THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, July, 1765  The issue begins with the continuation of: "Minutes of the Proceedings of the commissioners for Discovery of the Longitude...". Other articles within include: "A Method of Destroying Wasps and Hornets", various "Remarkable Events" which includes a note: "A fire which lately happened at Montreal in North America is said to have consumed 108 houses, most of them inhabited by British merchants. The damage is computed at 180,000 pounds." This is followed by a letter from a man at Pensacola in Florida, which includes: "...People begin to build here very fast, though I believe it will be a long time before the place comes to any perfection. As for the harbour, it is certainly one of the best in the whole world..." with more good descriptive text.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" with the latest news reports of the day.Complete in 48 pages, 5 by 8 inches, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, some damp staining.

A nice issue of this very famous & successful British magazine from this significant year of the Stamp Act, and some ten years before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War.
