THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, February, 1746  Included is a lengthy article concerning the: "...Maps drawn for...History of New France..." which takes over six pages & is very descriptive of the eastern portion of Canada.
Other items of interest in this issue include reports on the Jacobite Rebellion with: "Rebels' Account of the Battle of Falkirk" "Progress of the King's Forces in Scotland" "Account of the Surrender of the Town of Stirling" and "The Duke of Perth's Speech to the Young Pretender". Also: "Account of a Voyage to Lapland" which takes nearly 3 pages.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" with news reports of the day, including more on the Jacobite Rebellion including: "Gazette Accounts of the Rebels" and more. Many reports from various parts of Europe.
Complete in 54 pages, measures 5 by 8 inches, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate. No maps or plates are called for in this issue.

A very nice magazine from the "mother country" before the French & Indian War with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
