Two full pages are taken up with charts headed: "Ships Taken by the Spaniards from Jan. 20, 1742 to Jan. 20, 1743" (see for portions).
Among other articles within this issue are: "On the Shameful Management of the War, & the Reason of it." "Method to Prevent Smuggling of Tea" "Why a large Duty should be laid on Spirituous Liquors" and much more.
Among the various poems near the back of the issue is one titled: "To one who Said, Spain would Certainly conquer Georgia" (see).
A half pg. is taken up with a sheet of music titled: "On a Young Lady Stung by a Bee".
Near the back is a section headed: "Historical Chronicle" with news from England & other parts of Europe. One of the reports includes: "...he having stray'd at their land on the West Coast of America, was taken by a party of Spanish Horse...Before he left La Vera Cruz...nothing to be done north of Panama..." with a bit more (see).
Complete in 56 pgs. with full title/index page which contains an engraving of St. John's Gate. Measures about 5 by 8 inches, very nice condition.
There are no maps or plates called for in this issue.
A very nice pre-Revolutionary War magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content including news of the day, political reports, literary items, and other unusual tidbits. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
