THE VILLAGE VOICE, Greenwich Village, New York, November 2, 1967

* A great pre-Broadway review of "Hair" which includes a rare ad from prior to making it to Broadway
* The Public Theater - Greenwich, in the Village's own iconic newspaper
* Feature on H. Rap Brown

Prior to making it to Broadway and becoming one of the most famous musicals to hit the stage, the musical "Hair" appeared off-Broadway at The Public Theater in Greenwich Village. This issue contains an ad (pg. 28) and one of the earliest (earliest?) reviews (pg. 35). Due to its limited engagement, and it being prior to its incredible Broadway success, such ads are extremely rare - and even more so when from Greenwich Village's own iconic newspaper.
Also present are ads for The Doors, Janis Ian, Donovan, Arlo Guthrie and more.
The front page begins with a feature article on H. Rap Brown.
The newspaper is complete in 48 pages, has an archival mend to the back advertising page, has only minor margin-contained edge-tears, and is in overall good condition.

Many of the other classic elements (Nat Hentoff, Jules Feifer, etc.) which helped make The Village Voice such an iconic publication are also present.

The issue is complete, has occasional edge tears, but is otherwise good. See images for details.

Provenance note: This issue comes from The Village Voice's own archives, part of their in-house collection used to create their digital archive.
Alert: Many issues of The Village Voice contain articles and/or photos which some consider offensive, and are certainly inappropriate for children. Please purchase with discretion.
