SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, July 5, 1939

* Lou Gehrig day at Yankee Stadium - Yankees
* Famous 'luckiest man on the face of the earth' speech fame

This date will remain one of the most coveted by baseball fans, one of the most notable & heart-warming events in the annals of baseball history.
The bottom of the front page of the sport's section (inside) has a two column photo of Babe Ruth hugging Lou Gehrig with heading: "Gehrig Day" with some text underneath. (see) Page 5 of this section has a three column heading: "HE WEEPS AT TRIBUTE" with caption: "GEHRIG, THE GUY KNOWN AS LOU" and photo of Gehrig choked up. But what makes this issue great is the article actually contains: "Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth" as many publications had either a different version of it or totally left it out.
Complete with all 24 pages, light toning at the margins, small library stamp within the masthead, small address label on the front page, small binding holes along the spine, generally nice.
