September 20, 1944

THE NEW YORK TIMES, September 20, 1944

* Operation Market Garden
* Post D-Day Europe aerial invasion
* World War II - WWII

The front page has a banner headline: "BRITISH NEAR RHINE IN 37-MILE SWEEP NORTH AFTER AIR ARMY JOINS IN CAPTURING EINDHOVEN" with subheads and related photo. (see) More on page 3. Coverage on the great paratrooper raid in the Netherlands. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day with much more on World War II. Complete in 38 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Very nice condition.
