THE NEW YORK TIMES, February 26, 1932

* Harold Arthur Sanderson death
* Very 1st passenger of the RMS Titanic
* White Star Line director

Page 17 has a one column heading: "HAROLD SANDERSON, SHIPPING MAN, DIES" with subheads and photo. (see) First report coverage on the death of Harold Arthur Sanderson, former White Star Line head. He took over after J. Bruce Ismay's Titanic troubles. He also was the very first passenger of the RMS Titanic; as her sole passenger, on the delivery trip from Belfast to Southampton. I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 34 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
