NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Maryland, April 22, 1815 The front page has: "New Orleans" which has a collection of letters concerning the American victory there, including 5 letters signed in type: Andrew Jackson, plus other letters signed by Robert Butler, William Claiborne, Daniel Patterson & Thos. Catesby Jones. Much detail on this famous war-ending battle which takes 5 pages.
Also in this issue: "Treatment of Prisoners" and over 4 pages of: "War Events" which has nice reporting on the naval battle involving the Constitution vs. the Cyane & Levant.
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, nice condition.
This newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia it: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
