December 26, 1977

THE NEW YORK TIMES, December 26, 1977  The front page features a two-line, two-column wide headline "Charlie Chaplin Dead at 88; Made the Film an Art Form". This includes a 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 photo of "Charlie Chaplin walking into the sunset in a scene from 'Modern Times'". "Charlie Chaplin, the poignant little tramp with the cane and comic walk who almost single-handedly elevated the novelty entertainment medium of motion pictures into art, died peacefully yesterday at his home in Switzerland. He was 88 years old. Sir Charles -- he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1975 -- died at 4 A.M., a few hours before his family's traditional Christmas celebration was to begin...". Within the issue are two additional pages of coverage including his obituary and additional photographs.
Other news, sports and advertisements are within.
This is complete in 46 pages with some slight toning at the edges and at the centerfold, otherwise is in nice condition.
