As would be expected there is various content with photographs concerning the construction & dedication of the Exposition. Complete in 36 pages, minimal wear to the front cover with loss to a corner of the back cover, interior pages are in great condition with a water stain to the blank spine. An incredibly colorful and displayable front cover.

The ftpg. shows: "Paris Gowns of Cashmere & Mousseline" with inside pages having more fashion prints of the day (see photos for some). One page features "Women's Garden, Golf, and Sun Bonnets". This is the vol. 1 number 3 issue and I doubt that the newspaper lasted very long. Tiny binding holes at the blank spine, great condition.

SPRINGFIELD REPUBLICAN, Massachusetts, June 3, 1899  It is extremely difficult to find accounts of the deeds of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, aka "The Hole In The Wall Gang" and "The Wild Bunch", but this issue contains on page 4 a fine account of the train robbery on the Union Pacific Railroad at Wilcox, Wyoming, headed: "Hold Up On The Union Pacific--Express Car & Safe Blown Open & Contents Taken by Desperadoes" with the text taking 7 column inches. They were not identified by name as it was not know then who committed the robbery, but TheHistoryNet.com (see) gives further particulars including: <div style="font-style: italic;">"The June 2, 1899, Wilcox holdup would become one of the West's most famous train robberies. The Union Pacific Overland Flyer No. 1 had two sections, each pulled by its own locomotive. The first section was flagged down by two men with lanterns at milepost No. 609 at 2:18 that rainy Friday morning. Thinking that a small wooden bridge ahead might have washed out overnight, engineer Jones brought this first section to a screeching stop. The two men, wearing masks, boarded the locomotive and ordered Jones and the fireman, named Dietrick, to pull forward to the bridge and stop again. Dynamite, already tucked under the trestle, was ignited, and Jones was again ordered to pull ahead "and be quick about it." When he moved too slowly for the outlaws, one of them clubbed him with a gun butt.</div> <div style="font-style: italic;">The train had barely cleared the bridge when the explosion came. Although the bridge was not destroyed, the bandits had prevented the train's second section, whose headlight they had seen, from following. They then told engineer Jones to stop the first section so that the passenger cars could be uncoupled. The mail and express cars were what interested them. Following orders, Jones and Dietrick pulled ahead another two miles, where four more outlaws were waiting. Three of the robbers herded the trainmen over to the mail car and ordered clerks Robert Lawson and Burt Bruce to open up. A very nice display item for anyone involved in fencing. The back page is also fully taken up with a print, captioned: "Immigrants Landing at the Barge Office", which is likely from the earliest period of Ellis Island, which opened just five years previous (see photos). The complete 20 page issue, never bound nor trimmed, slight bit of edge wear, generally in very nice condition. Measures 12 1/2 by 18 inches.

On the reverse is a detailed key and "explanatory table" which describes the illustration. The foldout measures 16 by 44 inches. There is also a detailed report: "The American Fleet". Sixteen pages in nice condition. Quite rare to find an issue with this foldout as most have been damaged or removed.
