FRANK LESLIE'S CHIMNEY CORNER, New York, Sept. 27, 1873  An illustrated newspaper not unlike 'Leslie's Illustrated' however the focus was mostly on women's issues and interests. Various stories as well.
Sixteen pages, never bound nor trimmed so it folds out to a single sheet, nice condition.

This effort by Barnum and the Beach brothers would last for only 48 issues, or less than one year.
There are various prints within this 16 page issue, as the format is very much like Leslie's and Harper's would be. The masthead features a nice engraving of New York

Certainly the most notable print in this issue is the page 5 half page print captioned: "Illinois--The Chicago Baseball Club" showing the entire team in uniform, with a nice article on them on another page.
This is a very nice print, and increasingly rare to find such early baseball images in the illustrated newspapers.

Leslie's Weekly, from New York City, dated July 22, 1915.

The front page of this issue is an illustration entitled "Leslie's at the Front".

This issue includes "Oriental Lands in the World War"; "How Heroes Court Fame and Death"; "Pictorial Digest of the World's News"; and much more.

Other advertisements of the day are included as well, helping to portray life at the turn of the century. This issue is in good condition.

LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, New York, July 20, 1867  Inside is a very nice full-page portrait: "Frank Leslie's National Portrait Gallery -- Admiral David Farragut". Another page has a large illustration: "Natural Bridge Over Cedar Creek, Virginia", which is the preceded by the related article, "Summer Rambles Through the Country - A Trip to Lynchburg, Va, via James River and Kanawha Canal", and includes several small woodcut illustrations of the region. FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, New York, Feb. 8, 1868  Perhaps the most notable prints are: "Fortifications at the Entrance to Sitka Harbor" and: "South View of New Archangel (Sitka) from the Deck of the U.S. Steamer Resaca" which also has two related articles on Sitka, Alaska. This is from shortly after the purchase of Alaska by the United States.

P.T. Barnum was the co-owner of this early illustrated newspaper which preceded both "Leslie's Illustrated" and "Harper's Weekly". These latter two ultimately becoming immensely more successful. This effort by Barnum and the Beach brothers would last but 48 issues.
Each issue has various prints of event, scenes, and other curious topics.

FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, New York, Sept. 9, 1865  Among the prints within are: "A Peach Orchard at Cranberry, New Jersey" " with 3 other related prints. "Trout Fishing in the Mountain Streams of Pennsylvania" with an article. "Old St. John's Gate, Quebec, Canada".
The feature is a foldout centerfold of: "Trinity Bay & Heart's Content, Newfoundland...", plus two scenes from New Zealand.

FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWS, Oct. 26, 1861 (single print only)

This is a single-page print. The print contains a single woodcut engraving captioned: "Capture of the Propeller Fanny in Pamlico Sound, on the 1st of October, by Three Rebel Steamers, while Conveying Men and Stores to the 20th Indiana Regiment, Encamped at Chicamacomico, 40 Miles from Hatteras Inlet - from a Sketch by an Officer of the Indiana Regiment".
The print size is approximately 11.5 x 16 inches and has only minor wear.
