Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 1816 * Indiana will become a state (eve) Page 3 has reports of discussions from Congress, one report headed: "Indiana State" which includes: "...proceeded to the order of the day on the resolution recognizing the republicanism & conformity to constitution and law of the constitution of the new State of Indiana...and ordered to a third readying. It was accordingly read a third time and passed unanimously." It would be presented to the President for signature the day after this printing and Indiana officially became the 19th state of the Union on December 11. The top of page 3 has an ad for the historic: "Union Tavern, Georgetown". Four pages, nice condition.

Half of the front page is taken up with ads including one for the "Seattle Brewery". with news on pages 1 & 2. Four pages of small folio size measuring 9 by 12 3/4 inches. In very nice, clean condition. There is an archival mend to the upper margin on page one, but it is very clean - and has been done from the reverse side.

The front page has three Acts of the United States Congress, each signed in script type: Go: Washington. The first act is quite lengthy and is for the sale of land in the Northwest Territory. The third Act begins on page 1 and concludes on page 2. Complete in four pages, nice condition.

Shown is an original & historic old newspaper, offered to enhance your collectible interest: THE ALASKA TIMES, Seattle, Washington Territory, May 14, 1871 * Very rare W.T. issue This paper had moved to Seattle in 1870 and continued published under the same title despite no longer being in Alaska. Oswald's "Printing In The Americas" reports: "...he moved it to Seattle where he published two numbers only...", however I've had about a dozen issues all with different dates. Truly a rare item. An article on the front page is the census report on Alaska, which did not reflect very kind reporting of the people (see). Some foxing, irregular at the spine, some archival mended tears plus other margin tears. A very rare title from this early year.
