ABRAHAM LINCOLN Ford's Theatre John Wilkes Booth ASSASSINATION in 1865 Newspaper

eBay Fixed Price Item # 373129814146

Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: NEW YORK HERALD, April 16, 1865 * Abraham Lincoln's assassination * John Wilkes Booth- Ford's Theatre This date was a Sunday, and only rarely were Sunday newspapers bound into volumes held by libraries. As such, this date is arguably more scarce than the issue of April 15. And when it comes to graphic appeal, I would suggest that this edition of the 16th surpasses that of the 15th. All columns on all 8 pages have black mourning rules for the death of President Abraham Lincoln. Almost the entire first column of the front page is taken up with headlines on the assassination and the reaction of the nation, including: "OUR LOSS" "The Great National Calamity" "DEATH of the PRESIDENT" "Sad Details of the Terrible Event" "T... eBay Fixed Price Item # 392879957166

Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: THE BLISSVILLE SUN, Blissville, Maryland, (no date) * Very rare movie prop issue We've all seen newspapers used as props in movies, typically with a headline relating to the plot of the movie. Obviously created exclusively for the production of the movie, they are quite rare and seldom come on the collector's market--particular issues from the "golden age of Hollywood". This issue was created as a prop for the movie "The Man Who Returned to Life" done in 1942 (see Wikipedia for more on the motion picture). The bold headline reads: "SLAYER SENTENCED TO DIE ON GALLOWS" which concerns the star character, Clyde Beebe. A four page issue printed on high quality newsprint, water staining to the upper left, generally nice... See More

Rare SHERMAN ? Los Angeles Hollywood California - NOT LISTED 1921 Newspaper

eBay Fixed Price Item # 373100832373

Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: SHERMAN NEWS, California, May 5, 1921 * Very rare publication * Mystery to it's origin Apparently a quite rare newspaper as we can find nothing about it, or that it even existed. This is the vol. 1, no. 2 issue and this title is not recorded in either the Union List of Serials, or Gregory's Union List of American Newspapers. Searching out a few advertisements show this is now just Los Angeles, but once must have been known as "Sherman, Calif." as many ads note this address. Our research shows Sherman Oaks was never called just Sherman. In any case a quite rare title which apparently never lasted beyond a few issues. Four pages, good condition.
