A rare document for the 28th Indiana Colored Regiment dated January 9, 1866. "Quarterly Return Of Ordnance & Ordnance Stores received, issued, and remaining on hand in Company G, 28th Regiment, U.S. Colored Infantry." This document has a lengthy list of military ordnance and accoutrements with penned notations of the quantity accounted for (see photos). The front panel notes this "U.S. Colored Infantry" unit was commanded by "Capt. Adelbert C. Sherman, about whom I can find nothing. But research seems to indicate this is the "28th Indiana Infantry Regiment (Colored)", about which much information can be found online (copies are supplied with this document).
